You are proud owner of a gym membership; congratulations! Maybe it's your first time, or maybe you've been working out for a while and need some new outfits for the gym. Either way, it can sometimes be difficult to decide what to wear to work out in the most comfortable and trendy way. Need some inspiration? We are happy to share our tips!
There are many reasons to go to the gym. You simply want to maintain your stamina and weight, you want to lose weight or you want to develop your strength and muscle mass. Whatever your reason may be: nice and comfortable sportswear is indispensable. Maybe you have experienced it; a shirt that is too short and keeps creeping up with every exercise, pants that are too tight and pinching or shoes that are not comfortable when doing cardio. Before we tell you how you should dress, let us tell you what you should not wear to the gym.
It's nice to look hip when you work out. However, the most important thing is that your sportswear is practical and does not get in the way of a good workout. Therefore, we would like to tell you what not to do with sportswear. So pay attention to the following points when choosing your sportswear; you will be well on your way to finding the perfect outfit.
If you follow the tips above, you are already well on your way to putting together a practical outfit. However, here are some extra points to consider to put together the ideal outfit for a comfortable workout.
Going shopping for sportswear? Then opt for quality. There are plenty of budget stores where you can buy sportswear, however, these clothes often do not look nice. It will hang limply around your body, doing little good for your figure. It is nice if sportswear fits your body well. Purchase sportswear in which you can move well and in which your skin breathes well, with the main goal that the sportswear is comfortable and your skin always feels dry. Also, choose muted colors. Dark clothing will make your figure look better and in addition, your sweat stains will not stand out.
There are many options in terms of men's sportswear when you go to the gym. However, there is one golden rule: no bare upper body. This is considered unhygienic and socially unacceptable. At many gyms this is therefore laid down in the house rules. Otherwise, you are free to wear whatever you want.
Choose a sports shirt that is neither too tight nor too loose, and in which you have enough freedom of movement. If you have a good body, choose a sports shirt in the summer months. Also, a sports hoodie should not be missing to prevent you from catching a cold.
In winter, choose long pants that fit closely so that your movements are not hindered. Alternatively, you could go for shorts with long thermal pants underneath. In summer, choose mid-length pants or sports shorts when it's really hot. Ideally, you can store your belongings in your pants so you don't have to rent a locker and have visibility of your belongings.
As mentioned, a smart watch is fine to wear while exercising. You can also choose to wear a cap. In terms of music, you can go for headphones but they will feel a bit heavy when you try to move. Wireless in-ears are therefore a bit more practical.
Comfortable athletic shoes or sneakers are suitable. Here, choose the model that best matches your sportswear.
The most popular (and as far as we are concerned hip) sportswear for ladies in the gym remains sports leggings with a matching crop top. Often this is a set, making it look very nice together. The crop top is often also available with long sleeves; ideal for the colder months.
In terms of sports tops, you have several options. As mentioned, a crop top is very hip and popular, but of course you can also go for a shirt or camisole. Just make sure it's not too tight or too wide, so it doesn't hinder your movement.
Very short, tight pants are generally less socially accepted but not necessarily a no-go. Tennis or field hockey skirts should be avoided in the gym. Choose athletic leggings, athletic shorts or athletic pants that are not too tight or too wide.
Make sure not to wear jewelry to the gym; it can cause dangerous situations. As mentioned, a smart watch is fine to wear while exercising. In terms of music, you can go for headphones but they will feel a bit heavy when you try to move. Wireless in-ears are therefore a bit more practical.
