Learning these will make it a lot easier for you to pick the right boots for your outfit. You’ll be guaranteed to make the perfect combinations after reading our blog.

Tip: We’ve previously also written blogs teach you which sneakers and other flat shoes you can combine with wearing a dress or skirt.

A pair of boots can make your outfit look fresh and striking. So, are you looking for a nice pair of shoes to go with that dress or skirt you like to wear during the colder months? Then a pair of boots is probably a better choice than sandals or loafers, which are much better suited for the hot summer days.

3 types of boots to wear under a dress

We have made a selection of which types boots would look amazing with a dress or skirt. This way you know for sure it is both an appropriate combination and able to keep you warm as well. Three types of boots that ensure you make a good choice are ankle boots, long boots and laced boots

1. Laced boots

You probably have a pair of them in your wardrobe already. If not, it's time to change that. A pair of lace-up boots goes great with any dress or skirt. It’s a very versatile type of boot that you can also wear combined with jeans and other kinds of outfits.

Tip: the lace-up boots are also known as biker boots, from Dr. Martens and other brands.

They are tough-looking boots, so they fit well under a black or grey dress. And are you wearing a red, green or yellow skirt? The contrast draws attention and you wear a nice outfit that stands out.

Tip: Keep part of the laces of the boots open for a more casual and free look. Or lace them up all the way to emphasise the rugged character further. Try both options and discover your own preference.

2. Long boots

A pair of long boots fits neatly with both long and short dresses. During spring and summer you can wear your long boots in combination with a cute short dress. When it starts to get colder you can pair the long boots with a longer skirt or dress.

The long boots are nice and warm. They make a perfect choice to wear throughout the entirety of fall and winter in order to stay warm. So why not wear a nice long skirt or dress with them and a pair of warm leggings or thick tights? That way there’s no good reason to wait until spring or summer to start wearing skirts and dresses,

Tip: Over-the-knee boots are the best at keeping you nice and warm. Their length ensures you not only have warm feet; you’re warm all the way up and until your knees! Combined with a dress or a skirt they are a very stylish and elegant choice. You’d surely impress your date with them.

Long boots are made using luxury materials such as leather, nubuck and suede. These are available in versatile colours such as black, grey as well as brown and white. This makes it a neutral choice on the one hand, while the laces, studs and straps or fringes help give you a more striking look.

3. Ankle boots

Finally, you can combine a pair of ankle boots with a dress or skirt. They are on the shorter hand, stopping right around the ankle. Among others, Chelsea boots are a very popular choice; especially paired with a denim skirt or streetstyle dress.

And do you wear a simple outfit? Then choose a pair of boots with buckles or rhinestones, so you attract some more attention. The shoes come in black and brown as well as in other colours. That way, you get to decide what you want to look like.

4. City Western and boots with heel

Finally we would like to introduce City Western style boots as the last option. These are tough-looking cowboy boots with a touch of streetstyle added to it. The City Western cowboy boots make a great choice to combine with a little black dress, among other things.

Do boots with a heel have your preference? With these you can easily draw extra attention to your shoes. Both the high stiletto heel and wedge heel are amazing eye-catchers. If you like heels but prefer a more subtle look you can always go for a booth with a smaller heel.
