These are the essential clothing items for every woman

Probably your closet is full of women's clothing that you don't actually need and thus don't wear. This clutter can be quite annoying! But, just as it can be annoying to own too many clothes, this is also the case when you are missing important items from your wardrobe. After all, you need a basic wardrobe that includes certain indispensable garments, because otherwise it becomes difficult to put together stylish outfits. What garments should not be missing from a woman's closet? And how do you make it easier for yourself to always be able to put together an appropriate, stylish outfit?

Putting together the perfect outfit for any occasion is almost impossible without having at least the essential basic garments for women. Whether it's a casual outfit you wear during a visit to the supermarket, your grandmother's birthday or a meeting at work: choosing an outfit is much easier with all the basics present. In this blog, we will discuss which tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories you should at least have in your wardrobe.

Must-have outerwear basics for women

Creating a functional, more efficient wardrobe starts with having some basic outerwear basics in your home. For starters, a few simple (tank) tops cannot be missed. Sleeveless tops are not only super convenient to have for hot summer days, you will also enjoy them a lot in winter. You can then wear them under your nice outfit to unobtrusively layer your clothes and stay warm easier. Therefore, choose at least a few shirts in neutral colors such as white and black. Then, if the shirt is accidentally seen, it won't look as strange.

The next clothing item, with almost the same function is of course the T-shirt. You get these for the same reasons as the shirts, except that they look more sporty when worn on their own (not with something over it, although this is of course possible) on nice pants.

A neat white blouse/shirt should definitely not be missing from the working woman's business wardrobe. You can wear this garment on any neat pants and skirt. This makes it a very versatile and therefore important part of your closet. A blouse looks neat on its own but can also be worn in combination with a blazer, for example, to take that business look to an even higher level. The blazer/colbert is therefore naturally also part of our collection of essential clothing items to have. A neat black blazer or gray jacket can be worn with any kind of plain blouse. However, you can also use a blazer to balance the effect of a bright blouse with a busy print against the rest of the outfit.

As the second to last in the outerwear category, we want to bring up dresses. There is really only one dress that should absolutely not be missing from your closet. We bet you already know what we're talking about: it should come as no surprise that it's the Little Black Dress. This hugely versatile dress has now become so well known as a must-have for every woman. By now, an amazing number of women even know what you're talking about if you just mention it by the abbreviation (LBD). From leisure, to business and even for parties: you put on your Little Black Dress and are instantly stylish and appropriately dressed.

The latest basics in outerwear are of course a good knitted sweater made of cashmere, for example, as well as a warm cardigan for during the cold autumn and winter months. The cardigan is a versatile cardigan that is both comfortable for the home and stylish to wear in a business casual environment.

Must-have legwear basics for women

Of course, you can't go out without pants or skirts. Unless you're wearing a dress, of course. Therefore, we are now going to talk about what are the real must-haves for women in terms of undergarments; or women's pants and skirts.

We don't really need to tell you, but to keep the list complete, we'll do it anyway. Of course you need casual jeans in your closet. Most likely you already have several of them, but in case you don't: now is the time to buy them! Jeans are by far the most versatile pants a woman - or man for that matter - can own. They are mainly worn in your leisure time, but also belong in a business casual environment. In this case, of course, you choose high-quality jeans, without any tears or fake paint marks.

The next pants are, of course, the black slacks. Whereas jeans are not suitable for all business environments, you can really wear black slacks anywhere. You can pair these dressy pants beautifully with a blouse and blazer to put together a completely business smart outfit.

Finally, we name the essential skirt(s). Actually, this only needs to be one, but you have a choice of two different types. The most businesslike skirt you can choose is the pencil skirt. To easily match it with any outfit, choose a pencil skirt in solid black. However, choosing a pencil skirt is not your only option. You can also go for a looser fitting midi skirt or maxi skirt. This one looks almost as businesslike in many cases, but many women find it a little more comfortable as well as more versatile. A black maxi skirt or midi skirt also goes very easily with the cutest outfits for your leisure time.

Shoes

Now it is time to discuss what types of shoes are indispensable. For starters, you obviously cannot do without a pair of black boots. These look very neat under a business outfit, while on the other hand they look very cool paired with jeans for a casual look. In winter, they are therefore the perfect shoes. Depending on your own preference, you can choose a pair of long black boots or short black ankle boots. When summer comes, of course, it is too hot to wear boots. In this case, it is best to have a pair of black pumps to wear to work. In addition, they are also ideal to wear under a neat dress for a fancy birthday party. 

You are not at work all day, in fact, you always have at least a whole weekend to wear nice clothes. So that includes equally cute shoes! You can't go wrong with a pair of white sneakers and effortlessly give every outfit a sporty look. In summer, sneakers can be very hot, so make sure you also have a nice pair of brown or black ballerinas. Of course, a pair of elegant sandals would also work just fine.

Accessories and others

By now we have already arrived at the last part of the wardrobe: accessories. No outfit is complete without them. What you should at least have in your house is a black belt. After all, you never know when you might need it! Besides, it looks very neat with any jeans and pants, even when you don't really need it.  The next practical must-have accessory is obviously the handbag. Because how would you like to go anywhere without a handbag to store your important stuff, such as your house keys? Choose a handbag in a neutral color like black, gray, white, brown or beige for a stylish option that will look great with all your outfits.
